Dr. Taonui?s article goes straight to the heart of the matter. There is a new awakening to the importance of the culture and language. Schools are being created and there is an increase in fluency and use of the language. However, until more of the general public understand the history of the cultural, historical, and linguistic losses, and the incredible need to restore the language thru schools and everyday use (and its positive influence in today?s world) , the tremendous efforts that have gone into creating the schools and resources now available will not be enough.
Mauri ora mo te reo rangatira! Give life to the language!
