‪This is a basic Hawaiian conversation class with Kumu Kēhau Shintani for three (3) students max who have completed Mokuna 1-8 of Nā Kai ʻEwalu via our self-directed online chapter modules, or equivalent thereof, and who wish to increase their level of comfort and confidence in formulating and using basic Hawaiian sentence structures.‬

‪This class consists of 6 meetings via Google+ Hangouts On Air (HOA). Each class will be recorded to YouTube and archived for private review.‬

‪Proper pronunciation and basic conversational skills will be covered in this online class based on the papa ʻōlelo (vocabulary lists), ʻōlelo pōkole (short phrases) and pāpāʻōlelo (dialogues) from Mokuna 1-8 of the Nā Kai ʻEwalu textbook. Short simple speeches will also be composed and recited throughout the 8 sessions. The language of instruction will be in English with some Hawaiian at this level.‬

Children's stories that were written by Ka Haka ʻUla ʻO Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language students may be used as a discussion topic. Comprehension and grammar questions may be developed by participants as a resource for these children's stories.
